Winter Springs, Fla., October 13, 2021 – Technology rage is real. Just ask Matt Rose, Tech Rage IT’s director of technology services and author of Kiss Tech Rage Goodbye.
From seeing it in the movies like Office Space, to speaking with frustrated people unable to work, Rose knows the last thing to ask is, “did you reboot your computer?”
And that is why it’s important to hire for people-centric skills over technical.
Rose, was featured on “Sunny’s Silver Linings,” a podcast hosted by Sunny Kaila, founder and global CEO, IT By Design to discuss the importance of hiring the right people.
During the show, Rose explained why he doesn’t hire for technical skills first, but rather people skills.
“Technical skills can be taught so being the best tech on paper is not a slam dunk,” Rose says. “Instead, we look for people-centric individuals who can communicate or show empathy and are patient, especially when clients are upset. Our company culture is customer service first, then technology.”
Other tips Rose shared included:
- Simplify IT for the client, they don’t want to hear jargon and acronyms
- You may not be able to solve the issue immediately, but if you treat the client well, they will value the experience more
- Company culture starts with the hiring process not after an offer is accepted
“I am thankful for the opportunity to sit down and chat with a leader in the MSP community,” Rose says. “Sunny has grown a successful business based off similar values and I can learn a lot from him.”
