My cofounder and I started our first business back in college around advanced manufacturing techniques using carbon and flax fiber composites. I’ve always been excited about how nature has crafted very advanced materials over years of evolution and was surprised that certain materials haven’t explored for more advanced applications. It was our love of nature as an engineer and our experience developing materials for NASA that inspired us to develop next-gen materials from nature.

I dedicate time per week for the most important things in my life professionally. We envision our company being a leader in commercializing technical textile technologies primarily through biopolymers found in seaweed. Our initial leather material will be sold to accessory and footwear brands and 2 years afterwards, we plan on scaling our process to a roll to roll process to enter the automotive and upholstery sectors. Our yarn technology is primarily aimed for outdoor apparel and equipment brands where we will sell technical fabrics to replace Kevlar and wool with fire-resistance.
