Orlando, FL – August 20, 2025 – Aurora InfoTech joined Empowered Girls Inc. on August 16 at the Dr. James R. Smith Center in Orlando to help equip young women with the awareness and digital skills they need to thrive in today’s technology-driven world.

As part of the organization’s Back-to-School Program, the workshop offered engaging sessions focused on personal development, leadership, and online safety. Aurora InfoTech’s Vice President and Chief Security Officer, Roy Richardson, served as a guest speaker, delivering an interactive session titled “Outsmarting Online Creeps, Scams & AI Tricks.”

The session aimed to help students understand the evolving risks of today’s digital landscape, including scams, impersonation, and AI-generated threats—while empowering them to protect themselves and their peers with practical digital safety habits.

“Hackers don’t always come through the front door. Today, they pretend to be your friends, classmates, or teachers,” said Richardson. “The goal of this session was to equip students with the right mindset and tools to spot deception, protect their information, and speak up when something doesn’t feel right.”

The interactive workshop explored:

  • How to spot phishing scams, fake profiles, and AI-generated messages
  • Real examples of deepfakes and impersonation attacks
  • The importance of privacy settings and limiting personal information online
  • What steps to take if targeted by a scam or suspicious contact
  • Encouragement to become digital defenders for their community

This partnership reflects Aurora InfoTech’s ongoing commitment to promoting Cybersecurity education and community engagement.

“Richardson’s insights on social media and technology were timely, resourceful, and provided a clear understanding of the importance of making informed decisions while recognizing potential dangers,” said Felicia Lewis, founder and executive director of Empowered Girls Inc. “The guidance he shared will benefit our young ladies immediately and for years to come.”
