Winter Springs UCF Business Incubator Will Host Boot Camp to Introduce Innovators to Startup Method of I-Corps
Winter Springs, Fla. — The University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program will host a ‘Lean Methodology Boot Camp” during two 4-hour workshops from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 17 and Aug. 24 at the Winter Springs incubator, 1511 E. State Rd. 434, Winter Springs 32708.
Rafael Caamano, Associate Director of the UCF Business Incubation Program, said the Boot Camp is a workshop that introduces the I-Corps curriculum of learning to drive a startup, including customer discovery and business model canvas.
The goal of the Boot Camp is to present attendees with the concepts taught within I-Corps to aspiring entrepreneurs in UCF and partner organizations Additionally, it will identify those with high potential and direct them into the selection process for the I-Corps funded program that recruits and trains entrepreneurial teams, Caamano explained.
“The UCF Business Incubation Program focuses on a wide range of funding for its participant companies, and the NSF’s (National Science Foundation) I-Corps funding is one that will enable UCF to reach even more potential inventors and innovators by teaching them how to be entrepreneurs,” Caamano said.
The participants expected are faculty, researchers and students interested in teaming up with entrepreneurially focused individuals and experienced business mentors to learn how to use the I-Corps methodology of bringing their ideas to market. The boot camp includes 10-20 hours of customer discovery between the two work sessions i.e. getting out and talking to industry to see how ideas and innovations can be marketed.
