SOMJOT is a Mobility-as-a-Service startup. SOMJOT offers its users the convenience of a one-time registration to enjoy the offerings of multiple mobility operators and modes, buy insurance, bundled tickets and more.
What do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy working on making mobility more accessible and environmentally-friendly.
What inspired you to start your business?
We believe that there is a better way for people to get around and we decided to find a solution ourselves.
What gets you out of bed every morning?
I and the team are determined on getting SOMJOT up and running. That determination is our driving force.
What is your secret to making progress each day?
We take small and steady steps each day.
Tell us one thing people don’t know about you.
I used to be on the soccer and volleyball teams in my high-school. I continued to play soccer on the weekends but had to take a break due to a knee injury last year.
A typical weekend for me is…
I enjoy spending time with family and friends on the weekends.
What will people get from your business that they won’t get anywhere else?
SOMJOT believes in continuous improvements. One thing that people will get from us is our willingness to learn from their inputs. At the end of the day, our customers are the best source of insight.
Have you won any awards or had any special recognition or acknowledgement of your business?
In 2022, we participated in the regional pitching session organized by the US Department of Commerce’s largest FDI focused investment summit, namely SELECTUSA. We were selected as the only company to represent Cambodia in the APAC pitching session held in Washington, D.C. in June of 2022, where we placed 3rd.
What are your plans for the future of your business?
We plan to launch in Orlando and later on expand across Florida and the US. We believe that SOMJOT will become a household name for smart mobility.
What’s your secret talent no one knows about?
I can make amazing Turkish coffee.
What did you want to be when growing up?
I wanted to be an inventor. That was part of the reason that lead me to study mechanical engineering in university.
What is your favorite thing to do in the wonderful area of Central Florida?
I really enjoyed visiting Disney Springs during my short visit in October. I look forward to exploring the many attractions that Central Florida has to offer soon.
What would people never guess you do in your role?
I continue to have calls and zoom meetings until 5am on a lot of the days. This is also due to the fact that I am currently in Jordan and there’s a big time difference to both the US and Cambodia.
What do you love most about your industry?
The Micromobility industry is a newly created industry. This means that most of the players are constantly coming up with fascinating ideas on how mobility can be reinvented.
How have you advanced professionally since starting your business?
I have gained a wealth of knowledge in mobility, startups and the VC industry.
