What services do you offer?

We are regenerating seaweed biopolymers into high performing textile solutions. Our flagship product, searamic leather is a leather alternative material that boats impressive durability properties without the need of any synthetic materials.

What do you enjoy most about your work?

I enjoy I get to apply what I learned in school to a cause I am passionate about.

What inspired you to start your business?

My cofounder and I started our first business back in college around advanced manufacturing techniques using carbon and flax fiber composites. I’ve always been excited about how nature has crafted very advanced materials over years of evolution and was surprised that certain materials haven’t explored for more advanced applications. It was our love of nature as an engineer and our experience developing materials for NASA that inspired us to develop next-gen materials from nature.

What is your secret to making progress each day?

I dedicate time per week for the most important things in my life professionally. Just like a professional athlete has to train to support their efforts in game-time, I try to dedicate time per week to learn more about material science, the industry, and learn from other founders much further ahead. I culminate these experiences each week to always come in with fresh perspectives and motivation to get the most out of each day.

Tell us one thing people don’t know about you.

The reason I got into material science was because of my favorite marvel heroes Iron man and spider man.

A typical weekend for me is…

Exploring Florida with my girlfriend, working on side businesses, and playing great games of chess.

What will people get from your business that they won’t get anywhere else?

Their minds blown

Have you won any awards or had any special recognition or acknowledgement of your business?

Creative destruction lab graduates, 25 under 25 nominations, and part of the lead sports and health tech accelerator.

What are your plans for the future of your business?

We envision our company being a leader in commercializing technical textile technologies primarily through biopolymers found in seaweed. Our initial leather material will be sold to accessory and footwear brands and 2 years afterwards, we plan on scaling our process to a roll to roll process to enter the automotive and upholstery sectors. Our yarn technology is primarily aimed for outdoor apparel and equipment brands where we will sell technical fabrics to replace Kevlar and wool with fire-resistance.

What’s your secret talent no one knows about?

I can make bird noises.

What did you want to be when growing up?

A quantum physicist.

What is your favorite thing to do in the wonderful area of Central Florida?

Go bioluminescence kayaking!

What would people never guess you do in your role?

I also can create great websites! I do this in my free time for other deep tech companies and plan on doing it for Soarce soon.

What do you love most about your industry?

Material innovation doesn’t touch apparel that often. I have a strong passion for branding in the apparel industry, so it allows material science to be a cool subject.

How have you advanced professionally since starting your business?

I have grown into a role where I get to work with some of the smartest people in the biomaterial industry from around the world. It has taught me to build a company that attract great talent which has demanded building pitching experience, dedicated learning to material science to keep up with experts, and management.
