Orlando, FL – August 1, 2025 – Two Cybersecurity leaders set aside competition to educate and protect local businesses during the Cybersecurity Essentials for Business Leaders workshop, hosted by the Lake Economic Area Development Partnership and the University of Central Florida Business Incubation Program.
The event brought together Lake County business owners and leaders for a timely, interactive session on the evolving cyber risks facing today’s organizations. Roy Richardson, Vice President and Chief Security Officer of Aurora InfoTech, joined Affinity Tech Solutions as a featured guest speaker—sharing real-world examples, live exercises, and actionable guidance tailored for small and mid-sized businesses.
The workshop highlighted how cybersecurity has evolved beyond an IT issue, becoming a direct business risk that affects every department. Attendees were guided through critical topics, including executive decision-making during cyber incidents, third-party and insider risk, and building a cybersecurity-first culture. A live tabletop simulation gave leaders an opportunity to step through a mock cyber event and evaluate their real-world readiness.
“Hackers are the new mafia. They come silently, and they take everything,” said Roy Richardson during the session. “And no insurance policy can cover the emotional burden or lost legacy that follows.”
While both Richardson and Affinity Tech Solutions brought industry experience to the discussion, their presence at the event was driven by a shared commitment to community—not competition. Their collaboration emphasized the urgent need for education and preparedness, especially for businesses that may not have access to dedicated cybersecurity resources.
