SUMMARY:NAICS Selections and Dealing with the Government
DESCRIPTION:Beginning with an exploration of how NAICS codes are established and employed\, this class dives into ways that NAICS-based research can help with low cost capture\, how various Government roles in acquisition relate to those efforts\, what communications can transpire at what points in the process\, and a simple view at the overall Government process and some industry tricks employed to impact competitions (and how to see through them). \nIn-person attendance is encouraged; however\, a virtual option is available. \nUpcoming classes in this series include: \n\nCDRLs\, DIDs\, and their Impacts\n\n\nQuality Assurance Surveillance Plans (QASPs)\n\n\nSWOT Analyses and Bid/No Bid Decision Making\n\n\nAvoiding Common Proposal Team Problems and Pitfalls\n\nPresented by David P. Grow CEO\, Defense Proposals Group\nDave retired from the Government after 37+ years serving the Army\, Navy\, Air Force\, and OSD\, including serving as Project Manager (PM) for an OSD-led program that funded and executed crucial developments for every DOD test organization. He held roles as PM\, Deputy Security Assistance Management Director (SAMD)\, Chief Engineer\, Staff Action Officer\, and Manager. Dave worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground\, MD; the Pentagon; the National Capital Region; and at PEO STRI in Orlando\, FL. He has served as PM\, SBIR Resource Sponsor\, Engineer\, and Test Director across numerous systems\, geographies and positions. Dave managed the award of Government contracts valued up to $2.4B\, sponsored SBIR programs\, supported the development of numerous air\, land\, and sea weapons programs\, and led many complex developmental and integration projects. \nDave’s current bid and proposal specialization work evolved from leading over 60 source selections (evaluating hundreds of proposals) for multiple Government agencies. This array of experience enables clients to successfully compete for competitive\, non-competitive\, and SBIR/BAA vehicles. He brings the eye and understanding of an experienced and trained evaluator\, engineer\, PM\, COR\, and resource sponsor to his clients\, ensuring that each proposal delivers the information critical to the next win.

SUMMARY:Coffee with a C
DESCRIPTION:Big ideas. Real stories. A fresh perspective…over coffee. \nEvery business has a story. Let’s hear the parts that don’t make it into the presentation. \nIntroducing Coffee with a C\, a new conversation series bringing entrepreneurs and emerging business leaders together with experienced C-suite executives from a variety of industries. In a casual\, relaxed setting\, we’ll go beyond titles and success stories to explore what it really takes to start\, grow\, and lead a company from bold decisions and defining moments to challenges\, sacrifices\, and lessons learned along the way. \nThis event is intentionally set to be an exclusive event where it is much more than listening to a C-level executive. It’s a place where audience members will be able to interact and ask questions about our speaker’s journey\, secrets to success and much more. \nMeet Our First Featured Speaker: Beat Kahli\, founder\, president\, and CEO of Avalon Park Group \nWe’re kicking off the series with Beat Kahli\, a truly global entrepreneur. SUMMARY:Maximizing Profit Margins: Strategic Pricing and Indirect Rate Structuring
DESCRIPTION:Is your product or service priced right? After all\, poorly calculated overhead can kill a business. Companies need to know how to price competitively while protecting their bottom line. \nThat’s why we are working with Bloom CPAs to make sure companies in our region\, particularly those in federal contracting and those looking to scale their operations\, understand how much strategic pricing and rate structuring can affect a company’s potential. \nKey focus areas include; \n\nCalculating fringe\, overhead\, and G&A rates.\nForward pricing rate agreements for government bids.\nUnit economics and cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) optimization for scale.\n\nMeet your presenter\, Shannon Bloom\, CPA\, CFE \nShannon Bloom\, CPA\, CFE\, is a founder and CEO of Bloom CPAs and Advisors\, LLC\, a CPA and government contracting (GovCon) consulting firm helping small businesses\, including federal contractors\, build defensible pricing structures\, indirect rate models\, and cost accounting systems that protect profit margins. \nOriginally from a small town in North Carolina\, Shannon built the foundation of her accounting career during an 11-year tenure as a civilian with the United States Air Force\, working in accounting offices at RAF Lakenheath\, United Kingdom; Los Angeles Air Force Base\, California; Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling\, Washington\, D.C.; Yokota Air Base\, Japan; and Patrick Air Force Base\, Florida. \nSince leaving the Department of War (DOW)\, she has worked in corporate and small business accounting — including small business federal contracts — advising clients on the pricing strategy and indirect rate structuring that determine whether a government contract is actually profitable. \nWith a background in fraud prevention and internal controls\, Shannon earned the COSO Internal Controls Certification in 2018 and became a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) in 2020\, bringing a rigorous\, compliance-first lens to government accounting compliance and general management accounting. \nLearn more about Bloom CPAs at: \n \n\n\n\n
